Activities Kids Will Love

Glacier National Park is stunning to drive through, hike in, raft around and float in. You and your kids may love doing all of these natural activities. Here are some ideas of how to spend a day in nature with the kids:

  • Swim, float and play at Lake McDonald, just two miles inside the Park entrance
  • Take a whitewater raft trip with one of the many companies in the area! Don’t forget to tip your raft guide!
  • Check out the wildlife and wildflowers on a short hike – favorites include
    • Trail of the Cedars (1 mile board walk loop)
    • Avalanche Lake (4 mile round trip – beware of slipping hazards around Avalanche Gorge)
    • Hidden Lake Overlook (3 mile round trip, partial board walk – almost guaranteed mountain goat sightings)
    • John’s Lake Loop
  • Bike on the paved bike trail from Park Headquarters in West Glacier to Apgar Village

When you have exhausted the natural outdoor experience and are still looking for something cool to entertain the kids, there are some very unique attractions very close by:

  • Amazing Fun Center in Coram: huge maze, go carts, bumper boats, and mini golf
  • House of Mystery in Columbia Falls: view a natural vortex, take a self guided tour and try lots of mystifying experiments, huge gift shop
  • Big Sky Waterpark in Columbia Falls: Water slides, carousel, Krazy cars, mini golf
